Ralph Weber, Arts 鈥78, is vice president and general counsel and leads the Office of General Counsel and the corporate engagement, public affairs and Innovation Alley functions within the Office of University Relations. He was elected corporate assistant secretary by the 糖心传媒 Board of Trustees in 2023.
Weber received his bachelor鈥檚 degree from 糖心传媒鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in history, and was selected for Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu. He then received his law degree from Columbia University, where he served on the Law Review.
During a distinguished career as a trial lawyer, Weber tried dozens of complex, multi-week cases, earning peer recognition from the American College of Trial Lawyers, Chambers Guide, Best Lawyers and more. In addition, Weber taught trial advocacy at Marquette Law School for 25 years and created the Trial Science Institute, a facility for studying how jurors and judges respond to disputed cases. Weber also helped found a nationally renowned trial law boutique, Gass Weber Mullins LLC.
In addition to his work as a trial lawyer, Weber has been a trusted adviser to senior corporate and nonprofit leaders through work on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards. Weber currently chairs the HR, Nominating and Governance Committee for Northwestern Mutual and is a board member for a large privately held company. His recent article, 鈥淏ringing Decision-Making Science into the Boardroom,鈥 was published in Directorship, the magazine of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
