MILWAUKEE — Dr. Khadijah Makky, clinical assistant professor of biomedical sciences in the College of Health Sciences; Dr. Judith Maloney, clinical associate professor of biomedical sciences; Dr. Amber Young-Brice, clinical assistant professor of nursing; Ms. Kim Jensen Bohat, director of service learning in the Center for Teaching and Learning; and Mr. Jamie Cheatham, assistant professor of theater arts, and artistic director of digital media and performing arts, have been named the recipients of Marquette's 2017 Way Klingler Teaching Enhancement Award.
This award grants up to $20,000, which these five professors will use to establish a community of practice for clinical faculty in the College of Health Sciences and the College of Nursing as well as create a much-needed capstone course in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
"Long term, this project will give the participants in the community of practice an opportunity to develop a network, as well as the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary team in their future academic endeavors," Makky said. "It will also have a great impact on Marquette's student body, especially those in the professional schools."
The Way Klingler Teaching Enhancement Award is an annual award given to a team of two or more faculty members to develop, implement and evaluate a specific teaching project. One award of up to $20,000 is given to the selected project team for one fiscal year.
