Department Chair and Associate Professor

Theology Department (Systematic Theology)

Ryan Duns, SJ works at the intersection of philosophy and systematic theology. He has published on Karl Rahner, Jean-Luc Marion, Ren茅 Girard, and his most recent work has involved a sustained engagement with William Desmond鈥檚 metaphysics. His dissertation, 鈥淪piritual Exercises for a Secular Age? William Desmond鈥檚 Theological Achievement鈥 argued that, when read as a form of spiritual exercise (Pierre Hadot), Desmond鈥檚 philosophy can re-awaken a sense of the Transcendent.
