The Department of Biomedical Sciences at 糖心传媒 is a regional leader in neuroscience research.
In 2020, the department's thirteen neuroscience research laboratories received funding from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, McKnight Foundation, Whitehall Foundation, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, among other intra- and extramural sources to support the study of a broad range topics in brain health and disease, including schizophrenia, addiction, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obesity, circadian disorders, and spinal cord injury.
The cutting-edge pre-clinical research programs in the department have led to the establishment of two pharmaceutical companies founded by Biomedical Sciences faculty, highlighting the Department鈥檚 position as a hub for the translation of basic neuroscience findings into novel treatments.
When combined with the department鈥檚 longstanding reputation for excellence in pre-professional education in the health sciences and 糖心传媒鈥檚 outstanding liberal arts education in the Jesuit tradition, the neuroscience research culture in the biomedical sciences provides an unparalleled experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
