Filled Classes

If a class that you absolutely must have is full, you can seek special permission to enroll from the instructor, or from the department chair if no instructor is listed. Please note, however, that permission to enroll in a full class is granted only in exceptional cases.

Download the Special Registration Permission Form or from the college Records Office, Johnston Hall 120. If consent is granted, you will be given a permission number to enroll in the course.

Department Consent

If a class requires consent of the instructor or department, you must secure that consent before you can register. Get a Special Registration Permission Form or from the college Records Office, Johnston Hall 120. If consent is granted, you will be given a permission number to enroll in the course.

Independent Study Opportunities

To enroll in an independent course, download the independent study form or pick one up in the college Records Office, Johnston Hall 120. You also need a faculty member鈥檚 agreement to supervise the course. For independent study courses, the form will be sent to the Registrar鈥檚 Office, where you will be automatically enrolled.

Dropping or withdrawing from a course

If you no longer wish to remain in a course, you may drop the course via CheckMarq before the end of late registration (usually about a week after courses begin). See the Academic Calendar. If you no longer wish to remain in a course, and registration has ended, you may withdraw (not drop) the course.

  • You must complete a withdrawal form, available on the Marquette Central website or in the college Records Office, Johnston Hall 120. You cannot withdraw from a course by simply not attending.

  • Submit the form by the last day to withdraw, listed in the Academic Calendar.

  • Approval is up to the Associate Dean.

  • If you miss the deadline, you receive the grade you earned in the course.

Summer School Coursework at Another Institution
