Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at 糖心传媒! Led by chair, Dr. Majeed Hayat, the department offers courses in a wide range of valuable areas extending from machine learning to power electronics.
The department offers two main degree programs - electrical engineering and computer engineering. The key differences between the two programs are outlined below, to help you better understand the distinctions.
Electrical Engineers are involved in the conception, design and development of every device or system that uses electricity. They develop new sensors, controls systems, and power supplies for electric cars and space vehicles. Electrical engineers design communication networks and sensory and delivery techniques for diabetics to regulate their blood sugar levels. They develop imaging techniques for detecting explosive devices. They design smart robots that can detect and locate survivors in natural disasters. There is a very high demand for electrical engineers in industry.
Computer Engineers design, manufacture and program computers to solve problems for society and industry. Computers and microprocessors are found in most modern consumer appliances and in huge multinational telecommunications networks. Computer engineers build the hardware and software systems that run the internet and the global marketplace. Computer engineers must be on the cutting edge of trends because hardware and software systems are constantly changing. Computer software engineering is one occupation projected to grow the fastest in the next decade, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
