Maya A.Major: Environmental Engineering, Pre-Law Concentration: Innovation Leadership (E-Lead) Hometown: New Berlin, WI Favorite Courses: Statics, Water is Life, Environmental Microbiology, any of my E-Lead courses! Organizations and Activities: Society of Women Engineers (Social Director since Fall 2023), Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, Pre-Law Society Internships/Co-ops/Research: Research experience the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and industry experience with Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. Why Did You Choose Marquette: I grew up around Milwaukee and felt at home in the city. The engineering program is really strong and I loved that the Dean of Engineering was a woman! About Me: My family is originally from Lebanon, which has consistently been dealing with several geopolitical issues throughout my lifetime. My experiences when I visited my homeland really opened my eyes to the connection between the government and the environment, as Lebanon鈥檚 natural beauty and the region's quality of life suffered due to governmental issues. This is why I decided to pursue both a degree in environmental engineering and law. My experiences both in and out of the classroom have really shown me the value of engineering in people鈥檚 everyday lives. I also love to travel, have a passion for photography, and recently have gotten into playing pickleball! I am so proud to be a part of the Marquette Engineering family and would love to talk and answer any questions you may have! |

Why Did I Choose Marquette: One of the main reasons I chose Marquette is due to the community and family feel that is cultivated on campus. When I toured the campus, I felt at home. Another reason is due to the engineering culture. Many engineering schools are extremely competitive with large class sizes. I like that Marquette offers a smaller classroom setting that allows students to connect with their professors and peers. The community is also collaborative rather than competitive. Finally, I wanted to be in the Midwest and was excited to explore the city of Milwaukee. About Me: . am a current senior studying Biomedical Engineering on the electrical path. Marquette cultivates such a collaborative and welcoming community, which has allowed me to succeed and join many organizations. I am excited to meet you all and hope to answer any and all of your questions! |
