Information for Newly Admitted Students

Accept or Decline Your Admission Offer*

Once you've been offered admission, please . Processing your acceptance may take up to five business days. Our admissions staff works through notifications and questions in the order they are received.

If you have been awarded merit-based financial aid (generally in the form of a graduate assistantship) you will need to respond to that offer separately and in addition to accepting/declining your offer of admission.

Check Your Marquette Email*

Use your email address and password to access your Marquette email account. Additional information about setting up and accessing your email account can be found on the . 

This is the email address the University will use to send official communications, so it is important that you check it regularly. Expect to receive a weekly newsletter from the Graduate School.

What is Checkmarq?

is your gateway to student information at 糖心传媒. Once you login into , students, instructors and advisors will see access to information and self-service.


Complete Forms

 by using the username and temporary password sent via email within a few days of submitting your application. Contact the IT Services TechSquad if you need to retrieve or reset your log in credentials

Complete the forms in the "Next Steps" section. Forms includes required information from the 糖心传媒 Medical Clinic, as well as forms on demographic information. International students will be able to complete the next steps section once they have received their I-20.

Medical Clinic forms are typically available 2 weeks before the semester begins. We encourage you to complete these forms before the start of the term; a hold may be placed on your record if medical information is not submitted in a timely fashion.

Complete Preregistration Cheq in CheckMarq*

Prior to registering for classes each term, you are required to complete a Preregistration Cheq in CheckMarq. This allows you to complete mandatory financial and academic integrity agreements in advance of your registration appointment time, leaving fewer steps to complete at the point of registration.

Submit Final Official Transcripts*

Transcripts must be submitted to the Graduate School within the first five weeks of the term of admission or a hold preventing registration for future terms will be placed on your record.

Domestic transcripts may be emailed directly to gradadmit@marquette.edu.You can also mail transcripts to the Graduate School:

This assignment can vary greatly by department in both timing and who is assigned to you.  If you do not have an adviser assigned in CheckMarq, contact your department to inquire as to who you should connect with regarding advisement. Some programs even have advising days.

Register for Courses via Checkmarq*

 A registration tutorial is available to help you through the process. Contact the department offering the course to request a permission number if one is required.  

Purchase Your Books*

The Book Marq is 糖心传媒's official bookstore for purchasing text books and other classroom supplies. The Book Marq's focus includes stocking all the text books needed for every Marquette student and providing academically discounted software.

Schedule a Campus Visit

If you have not visited 糖心传媒 or wish to become more familiar with campus before school beings, please schedule a visit! We have knowledgeable Graduate School staff that will take you around campus and help you get you accustom to your surroundings. 

Get your Marquette student ID card (MarquetteCard)*

Your MarquetteCard allows you to access the libraries, rec centers and computer labs.  It is also a way to pay for certain things on and near campus.  You can get your MarquetteCard at Union Station in the Alumni Memorial Union (AMU).

RentCollegePads (third party, unaffiliated)

 provides information on rentals, roommates, and subleases in the Marquette neighborhood. Marquette does not endorse the site or any landlord or property listed on the site. Students should view properties in person and read the entire lease contract before signing it or paying any money. Marquette assumes no responsibility for disputes between tenants and the site, or between tenants and any landlord or property, except for properties owned by Marquette. Mediation and referral services are made available when such disputes arise. 

Parking Information

Parking in an urban campus can sometimes be challenging,  leading to issues that can be a distraction to your day at school. Having a designated place to park provides convenience, peace of mind and safety. 

The application process will begin July 11, starting with commuter students. Each subsequent group鈥檚 permits will go on sale at 9 a.m. per the schedule on the parking website.

New Graduate Student Online Orientation

We invite you to participate in the Graduate School鈥檚 New Student Online Orientation. You can access your assigned orientation through D2L, 糖心传媒鈥檚 learning management system.

  • Fall orientation opens August 1st
  • Spring orientation opens December 1st
  • Summer orientation opens May 1st
