Jeanne Hossenlopp

Vice President for Research and Innovation

Dr. Hossenlopp is a professor of chemistry, she served as Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School from 2010 to 2015, she was interim dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences from 2008 to 2010, and was chair of the Department of Chemistry from 2004 to 2008. Jeanne is originally from Buffalo, New York. Jeanne enjoys cycling (she regularly bikes to work) and vacationing in Florida.

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Research and Innovation

Mel began her career as a Certified Dental Assistant. After moving to Wisconsin, she began working at Marquette in the Graduate School and was there until transferring to the Office of Research and Innovation in 2015. In August 2023, she celebrated 20 years at MU. Mel enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her dog Angus, gardening, reading, and baking. She's in a SE Asia mission group at church; she's visited Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and Hong Kong.

Director of Business Affairs, Research and Innovation

Mark received his BA in Social Philosophy and MBA from MU. Afterward, he became the Director of Academic Business Affairs in the College of Education. In 2015, Mark joined the new office of Research and Innovation as the Business Director. Since then, Mark has helped lead efforts in growing research expenditures, improving internal award mechanisms, and more.

Award Project Coordinator, Research and Innovation

Jodie started at MU in the Biological Sciences Department in Dr. K. Dale Noel's lab and most recently worked as a Research Associate and Lab Manager in Dr. Rosemary Stuart's lab. She is exploring her new role as Award Project Coordinator where she will support faculty in navigating their grants. Jodie's daughter is a Freshman at Marquette. Jodie enjoys living the #FarmLife and going to her family cabin up north.

Award Project Coordinator, Research and Innovation

Anita earned a BS in Cellular & Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from UW-Milwaukee in 2021 and recently completed her MS in Biochemistry at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where her research focused on resistance mechanisms to targeted cancer therapies. She is excited to join the Office of Research and Innovation as a Grant Awards Coordinator, where she will assist faculty in navigating their grant processes. Outside of her professional life, Anita is passionate about music and has been playing guitar since she was 4 years old. Fun fact: she owns six guitars and three violins.

Project Coordinator, Research and Innovation

Sara has a BS in Political Science with minors in PR & Art/Design from Northern Michigan University. In 2017, Sara received a Congressional Gold Award for her national service in AmeriCorps NCCC as a Team Leader. Before moving back to Milwaukee, Sara worked in political and advocacy campaigns in Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, and California. She enjoys spending time with her pets Vito and Huey Lewis, creating music and art, and beach days with her husband.
