Phi Sigma Tau is the International Honor Society in Philosophy. Founded in 1930, the Society now has a network of over 140 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Phi Sigma Tau publishes a journal, Dialogue, containing student essays in all areas of contemporary philosophical research and also produces a newsletter three times per year containing news of local chapter activities.
In addition Marquette is pleased to have a local chapter (WI-ALPHA) that provides an opportunity for students, both majors in Philosophy and others interested, to have a forum to discuss philosophical issues outside a formal classroom structure. The Marquette chapter has recently screened movies followed by discussion of their philosophical dimensions. The chapter president is Will Fitzsimmons and the vice-president is Jaime DeBartolo.
