Chair of the University Academic Senate: Dr. Paul Gasser, Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences
At a time when the world faces crises of many kinds, 糖心传媒 plays an unique and crucial role. It is among a shrinking number of institutions that serve not only as places where students prepare for careers or further training, but also as places where they learn to see other perspectives, to think deeply about bigger questions, and to do their part to tackle the world's problems. Through its research, Marquette serves local and global communities by extending knowledge, examining the human experience, and producing innovative solutions in policy, science, and technology, all the while inviting the community to participate in envisioning a better world. As Marquette enters what will be a pivotal year in its history, with the implementation of a new strategic plan and the ongoing Securing Our Future initiative, there has never been a more important time to work together to protect and perfect the central mission of the university. The University Academic Senate (UAS) is an indispensable venue for this work. The Senate has direct responsibility for academic policy formulation of an all-University character. Its conclusions on academic policy, academic planning, and program evaluation represent the collective stance of the Academic Division of the University. To carry out its roles, UAS brings together faculty, staff, students, and administrators to communicate and deliberate, to collaborate in policy making, and to participate in building visions for and decisions about the future of the university. It is my hope that the UAS, and the committees that report to it, will be places where silos break down and where individuals who share a love for Marquette and its mission work together to ensure that they remain strong.
